A Message from Artistic Director Kevin Finney

Our September productions have been dedicated to history since 2022, when we produced “A Festival of Jules Maes Plays.” “Tales of Georgetown” and “Seattle Stories” followed, so this year a production about Washington State history seemed in order. True to Drunken Owl form, tonight we embrace stories that haven’t made it into the text books, but these stories need to be told. With a cast that’s larger and more diverse than in past productions, we offer a history lesson that’s out of the mainstream. Thank you for supporting the performing arts. We hope you enjoy the show.

Our Company

Brandy Briones (actress) is thrilled to kick-off her first performance with Drunken Owl for this collection of Washington-set stories. Her recent projects include Centrifuge by Infinity Box Theatre, Peloton, and Mariner’s T-Mobile Park. She studied at UCLA and Princeton, earning her PhD in Neuroscience & Psychology, and moved to Seattle in 2020 to be a neuroscience researcher at UW. She hopes these performances move you to learn more about the history of this land we call home.

Juli Brown (actress) is excited to be working with Drunken Owl on this show! Having grown up in Washington, they loved learning more about the history of the area and bringing that history to life.

Maikaru Douangluxay-Cloud (actor) is a Seattle-based creative producer, writer, and performer. An award-winning filmmaker and author holding both an MA and an MBA, he is the founder of Mainstay Productions. He champions character-driven storytelling across theater, screenplays, and fiction. Maikaru brings his passion for nuanced narrative and vibrant creative collaboration to the stage for this production, and he extends his heartfelt gratitude to the cast, crew, and audience for supporting local live performance. https://www.maikaru.com

Sharon Connor (musician) has been a professional singer for over 45 yrs, traveled the world with a top 40 cover band, The Girlfriends, for the USO, and sung in a jazz band for many years. She studies at Cornish and hasspent the last six years playing with the Marky Par band with her brother Mike and other fine musicians.

As a young man, Kevin Finney (AD, director, actor) acted in summer stock on the East Coast. He was John Ritter’s stand-in in the film “Real Men,” and had a song and dance gig in a Japanese amusement park. In the Seattle area, he’s acted at ArtsWest, Burien Actors Theatre, As If Theatre, and Phoenix Theatre. Since 2018 most of his creative energy has gone into directing Drunken Owl Theatre.

Josephine Fogle (playwright) studied at NYU’s undergraduate acting program, specifically in the studio of Stella Adler. Later, she studied for a BM at The Juilliard School, working toward a degree in music (viola). But, with indecision about what to do with her life, and with many college credits to her name, she was able to complete her undergraduate degree within a year of attending the U of WA, in psychology She holds an MFA in Short Fiction from Antioch Los Angeles. A huge thank you to the Drunken Owl Theater, Don’t-Limit-Kevin, the actors, and everyone else who makes it happen.

Mike Goldfine (musician) began playing drums at the age of ten and switched to bass as a teenager. Following his mother’s lead, he played in the orchestra pit for several theatrical productions in the Puget Sound area and made his acting debut in “Twelfth Night.” He plays bass and drums in several local bands and has played at Drunken Owl many times.

(The Story) Dr. Iris Min is a brilliant Seattle orthopedic fellow, but at home, she remains a prisoner to her father’s tyrannical expectations. Fourteen years ago, Kei Murakami was a desperately poor boy whose only asset was his fierce devotion to her—until he was brutally blackmailed and forced into exile by Iris’s family.

Iris spent over a decade believing the only man who truly saw her had abandoned her. But Kei didn’t just survive his exile; he weaponized it. Stacey Hansen (stage manager/sound design) is so happy to be playing again with DOT, and honored to be a part of the unique group of plays in Washington Stories. She’s been knocking around the Seattle theater scene for longer than she remembers, or polite to ask! Mimi Katano (playwright, director) is a theatre artist based in Seattle and Tokyo. Local directing credits include:Seattle Opera, 5th Avenue Theatre, Wooden O’, Seattle Public Theatre, PFP, SiS, and 14/48 Projects. Writing credits include: Justice At War and A Story of Sadako. As a transplant from the southern Appalachian mountains, Chad Leatherwood (musician) has spent a lifetime immersed in bluegrass, Americana, and music created by singer-songwriters.  He’s played in a wide variety of musical projects and prizes playing with kind and passionate fellow musicians.  

Kirsten McCory (costumer) has had a passion for costumes for many years beginning in the 90’s for the burlesque stage, for her daughter’s many years of Waldorf school events and for her own modeling work. She designed Drunken Owl Theatre’s  I Protest!, Riding the Bull by August Schulenburg and co-costumed,(with Clary McCory) The Deadliest Instruments, produced by New Amerikan Theater. http://www.kirstenmccory.com/

Mac Macdonald (guest speaker) is a long-time resident of Seattle and participates in many worthwhile civic activities. He is an author as well as an actor and has appeared in movies such as “Apocalypse Now” shot in the Philippines, “American Graffiti”, “Murder She Wrote” and many commercials including the old Rainier ones. You’ll see him playing Santa Claus in various Christmas shows coming up.

Margaret O’Donnell (poet) is an award-winning playwright, a poet, and a retired immigration attorney in Seattle, Washington.  She attended Hollins University’s MFA program in playwriting in Roanoke, Virginia, 2020-2021, and co-founded the Seattle Playwrights Salon.  Her plays Lucia and Not Normal are published.  The San Pedro River Review and PoetryXHuger.orgmost recently published some of her poems. Mike Oprinski (musician) lives in West Seattle, with numerous guitars, and some mice.

Raised in Canada, Jeremy Radick (fight choreographer) has spent over 30 years as an actor and director in Vancouver, Toronto, New York and Seattle. He’s appeared on stage in productions of The Hot L Baltimore, The Winter’s Tale, and Lawrence & Holloman. On Seattle stages you may have seen him most recently in Glengarry Glen Ross (Second City Rep) and Continuity (Blue Hour Theatre Group.) He’s thrilled to be back with Drunken Owl!

Rachel Rauch (playwright; she/they) is an autistic, queer, silly fantasy writer of plays, novels, poems, musicals, and podcasts from Seattle. They are a 2026 Shattered Glass Incubator Mentorship mentee, a member of the ScribLab PlayLab cohort, and a member of New Play Exchange. Their short plays and poetry have been performed in various places around the Seattle area including ScribLab with Hugo House, Rain City Projects, and Drunken Owl Theatre.

David Sorey (musician) grew up in Denver, studying classical and jazz piano, and playing in funk and soul bands, and in jazz groups with Keith Oxman and others. After earning degrees in piano performance and landscape architecture in the Pacific Northwest, he performed with Charles Neville and the Flambeaux, and played in the James Baddington Quartet along with numerous other small jazz groups in Seattle. He also as has played solo piano in many Pacific Northwest night clubs.

Misaki Teranishi (actress; she/her) is a Japanese actor who has been part of the Seattle theatre community for the past two years and is excited to make her debut with Drunken Owl Theatre. Her recent credits include KAIDAN – Japanese Ghost Story (Za Trans-Pacific Productions) and Mrs. Claus IS COMING TO TOWN (Edmonds Driftwood Players). She will next appear in Suitcase(Seattle Community Theatre). She hopes you enjoy the show and come away with a deeper understanding and acknowledgment of this unforgettable chapter of Japanese American history.

Miriam BC Tobin (poet) is a theatre artist, playwright, educator, and arts leader. Her writing experiments with language and structure to discover humanity’s place in the vast universe. She has performed and directed plays across the US and Europe. Recent local readings and performances have been with The Shattered Glass Project, Drunken Owl Theatre, and Edmonds Driftwood Players. Miriam also runs SCRiB LAB, a Seattle playwriting organization aimed at community and education. www.mirbct.com

Christina Williams (actress) is a WA native who has tread the boards for 25 years. Favorite roles include Marie-Antoinette (The Revolutionists), Trudy (Social Security), and Rosemary (Outside Mullingar).  Outside of acting she loves her husband (Drake), their labradoodle (Charlie), baking, ziplining, traveling, and will gleefully chat with you for hours about old movies and tv shows.  Aiden Wolf (playwright, actor; he/him) is an Alumni Theater major of Whitman College, WA. While in college he performed in 5 plays and studied abroad in London. He also is a lifelong performer for Pendleton Round Up’s Wild West Happy Canyon Night Show in Pendleton, Oregon, which is currently happening during these productions. Outside of Theater, he is a wild land firefighter for the BIA Umatilla Agency. He hopes you enjoy tonight’s production!
