A good time was had by all who made the trip to Concrete, WA May 31 for our encore performance of “Days of Wine and Whimsy.” Our actors and musicians delivered spot-on performances in a new space, and our audience was involved and appreciative. Several audience members encouraged us to return, promising to help spread the word that Drunken Owl rocks.
After our production the company and audience alike shifted next door to the Hub Tavern, where Leatherwood and Company played blues late into the night. Most of us stayed over in the hotel across the street. It was a lovely respite from the big city, and we’d love to go back.
The third Sunday of June was Father’s Day, and as planned we took a break. Drunken Owl returns to the Jules Maes Saloon on Sunday, July 20 at 5:00 pm. Guest director Kirsten McCory has created a show called “The Dot Zone.” The material is supernatural, sci fi, horror…Twilight Zone-ish.

Our following show on August 17 is titled “I need a Vacation.” Peter Murray will direct and emcee.

and will feature the music of John (Pinetree) Paynich.

Our next production is September 26 – 29. “Seattle Stories” continues the trend of our September production focusing on local history. “From “A Festival of Jules Maes Plays” in 2023 to “Tales of Georgetown” in 2024 and now “Seattle Stories,” we’re broadening our viewpoint. Next year’s production will probably dwell on the history of Washington. We’re accepting plays and poetry for “Seattle Stories.” Send material to ksfinns@comcast.net; deadline is 7/31/25.
Our October reading will coincide with ACT / Seattle Shakespeare’s production of “Shrew,” and will tie in to that show’s themes. This is a mighty big step for Drunken Owl. Please stay tuned!
