Drunken Owl Theatre was built on original work by local playwrights, and while we veer from both “original” and “local,” we stay true to our roots. Most of our playwrights attend the readings of their plays, hopefully bringing a friend or two.
The type of script we prefer tends to be short, about ten minutes, with a small cast. We love twisted, edgy humor. Our shows are loosely themed as follows:
- January: My birthday month; otherwise, usually a mixed bag, no real theme.
- February: Love Stinks
- March: St. Patty’s Day
- April: Death and Taxes and/or Sacrilegious Holy Days 2023. On 4/23/23, we’re honoring 4/20 culture
- May: Mommie Dearest
- June: Summer Solstice and/or Daddy Dearest and/or Adoption (next full production: 6/17 6:00 pm, 6/18 3:00 and 6:00 pm)
- July and August: Summer Fun
- September: Back to School, or Not
- October: Spooky and Scary
- November: Family Dysfunction
- December: Anti-Christmas /Pro Solstice
In the future, we might dedicate a one show to children’s literature, reading and acting out three children’s books or stories. We hope to have a F@#k Cancer show someday.
For now, the best way to submit material for consideration is to send a copy via e-mail to the Artistic Director and Impresario, Kevin Finney, at ksfinns@comcast.net
Many thanks, —Kevin Finney
