Program for “God, Zombies and Other Phantasms”

Welcome to Drunken Owl Theatre’s fifth production. With our monthly shows and our thrice-yearly productions, we’ve struck a sustainable rhythm. Huge thanks to our loyal audience, the owner and staff of Jules Maes Saloon, our generous board and season ticket holders, and the pool of talented actors, musicians, playwrights and poets that make our joint endeavors hum. I’m also deeply grateful for the persistent help from Karen Lewis for poster design, Jeff Watson for set design and construction, and Brent Sindelar and Pacific Office Automation for printing services.

My ambition and planning skills have grown: Look to another round of plays about historic Georgetown the last weekend of September. In January ’25 we might dare to present a pair of one act plays.

I’ve laughed myself silly during the rehearsal process. I hope you enjoy the show as much as I have.

Kevin Finney, Artistic Director

Betsy Boyer (musician)
Betsy is happiest with a song to play or sing and is so honored to be back on the Drunken Owl stage! A native of East Tennessee, after-college wanderlust drove her to the west coast and a career in the maritime industry, followed by actually using her degree as a video producer. She and husband Andy live in the Methow Valley, but Bets will always travel for music!

Thanks to Kevin for asking me back, and to this fabulous cast for sharing this lovely artistic ride with them.

Kevin Harrang (playwright, musician, board member)
Like all Capricorns, Kevin is an astrology skeptic, but mostly a recovering attorney, musician, occasional playwright for Drunken Owl, and struggling webmaster. Kevin loves and supports Drunken Owl Theatre because he believes art is something you involve yourself with—whether as creator, participant, or audience member—rather than something one merely consumes on a screen. The more local the better, which is why Drunken Owl Theatre is the best.

Michael G. Hickey (poet), professor emeritus, grew up in Belleville, IL, the oldest of eleven children. He received a BA in creative writing from the University of Arizona, 1987, and an MFA from the University of Washington, 1992. In 2009, he was inaugurated as Seattle’s eighth Poet Populist. In addition to two novels, Hickey has also published three books of poetry and prose: IN DEFENSE OF EVEA DRESS WALKED BY WITH A WOMAN INSIDE, and HOW TO TALK TO GIRLS (& other urban myths). His most recent publication is his first children’s book, TRAVIS THE TALKING DOG” (2022) In 2023, he co-wrote a stage play with Pamela Hobart Carter entitled, “Prohibition Pigeons.”

Joelle Leinbach (Costumes)

Prior to working with Drunken Owl, Joelle has worked locally with Seattle Children’s Theatre, Taproot Theatre, Seattle Pacific University, and Infinity Box Theatre. She has also created costumes for theatre, film, and dance in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Berlin, Germany. She holds a BA in Costume Design & Production.

Jane Martin Lynch (actress)

Jane is excited to return to Drunken Owl! A huge thank you to the cast & crew!Andrew Meyers (playwright)

Andrew has been drawn to the theater his whole life, so he’s stoked to be involved in Drunken Owl’s “God, Zombies, and Other Phantasms.” His playwriting philosophy is as follows: Your writing can never be too dumb or too funny. Shoot for the stars. Much love to Ashley and Vienna.

Leonie Mikele Fogle (board member & set design) writes both poetry and plays. She’s been a supporter of the arts for several years—having been a board member of 911 Media Arts before it closed its doors—and is a theater and concert enthusiast. She is happy to be a part of the DOT family; she is excited to contribute to the artistic life of the theater and music community generally, and to support Drunken Owl Theatre in particular.

Monique Preston (actress)
Monique is excited to be back performing with some of her favorite people in her third full length production here at Drunken Owl. A Seattle native, Monique has been performing for over 10 years now in both theatre and film. Much love to all of my family and friends who have supported me over the years!
