Drunken Owl and Union Arts in Collaboration

Nearly half a year in planning, our second collaboration with Union Arts through their Community Days is upon us. Inspired by their mainstage production of Jiehae Park’s “The Aves,” local playwrights Amontaine Aurore, Kirsten McCory, Carolynne WIlcox and Michael Yichao have created 8 new plays for us to read on two occasions. We’ll present part 1 this coming Sunday, 4/19 in our usual slot at 5:00 pm at the Jules Maes Saloon. Our cast of Christina Williams, Ken Kavin, Sumant Gupta and Kaitlyn Demeyere will read 4 plays, poets Pamela Hobart Carter and Deborrah Corr will read some of their poetry, and John Pinetree and the Yellin Degenerates will provide the music. A link to buy tickets is on the Saloon’s website and here: https://tickets.venuepilot.com/e/drunken-owl-theatre-2026-04-19-jules-maes-seattle-303088

Part 2 is on the following Saturday, 4/25, at 3:30 or so. Following the matinee of “The Aves” at Union Arts, our same cast will take the stage at the Bullitt Cabaret for a second reading of 4 different plays from the same playwrights. The same poets and musicians will provide different material. It’ll be a second helping of Drunken Owl’s special brand of variety show. As Shana Bestock, formerly of Union Arts, said at a planning meeting, “More art!” Admission to this Community Day Event is free, but we will be passing a hat and selling merchandise.
