Rise of the Owl

In October, 2024, I attended a show of monologues at ACT Theatre. I was thrilled to see the involvement of several playwrights whose work we’ve read or produced at Drunken Owl, and when I met the Artistic Associate running the event, Shana Bestock, she recognized the name of our small theatre. We met a few weeks later to discuss the possibility of cross-promotion between ACT and DOT. When ACT and Seattle Shakespeare merged to become Union Arts Center, those plans took a back seat for a bit, but they will come to fruition this month! At the Jules Maes Saloon on October 19 at 5:00 pm, our cast of Christina Williams, Jane Martin Lynch, Valeria Aguirre, Adrian Cerrato and Jeremy Radick will read plays by Anna Tatelman, Miriam BC Tobin and Pamela Hobart Carter, each of which riffs on the themes explored in Union Arts Center’s production of “Shrew,” opening 10/18. Kate Danley will deliver portions of her one-woman play, “Madam(e) Lou.” Ms. Bestock will attend and give a brief talk about Union Arts’ ongoing work, and everyone in the Drunken Owl universe is invited to attend “Shrew” at a 20% discount. The promo code is OWL20.

If all goes well, Drunken Owl will bring a reading to the Bullitt Theatre sometime in the spring. Our very tentative time and date are 4:00 pm on April 25, 2026.
