Last September’s “Festival of Jules Maes Plays” was so successful that we return to a historical theme for our sixth full production, “Tales of Georgetown.” Last winter, I began asking folks in Georgetown, “What would make a good play? What stories need to be dramatized?” In April, I invited playwrights to the Saloon to hear the stories I had uncovered, asking that they carry out their own research and submit plays highlighting the history of Georgetown. Local playwrights Anna Tatelman, Elena Naskova, Thomas Pierce, Pamela Hobart Carter and Mike Hickey have contributed original work featuring ghosts, elections, intrigue and booze. Our actors are Juli Brown, Jillian Faulk, Nela de Paz, Sean Neely and Noel Sherrard. We’ll hear poetry by Mary Ellen Talley and Margaret O’Donnell and music by the Bard Owls.

In an effort to cover production costs fully, we’ve increased ticket prices by $5: $15 in advance, $20 day of show.

Huge thanks to Karen Lewis for providing poster design over the past two years, (like the one above) and equally huge thanks to Noel Sherrard (also acting in all four plays!) for providing the poster design (below) for this production.

Sets are painted,

costumes are being procured, altered and created,

and we’re nearly halfway through the rehearsal process, having a blast.

I know, I know: this photo is blurry. I’ll post some better rehearsal shots soon.

Need an option to the Apple Cup? This Saturday, the Bard Owls perform at our long-awaited gig at Tim’s Tavern at 3:00 pm. “Tim” stands for “Together in Music,” and we’d love for our Drunken Owl audience to gather together at Tim’s to hear three sets of the tunes we’ve brought to the Saloon stage for the past two years.
